We just wrapped The Jungle Book, our final major production of the year. This one was a doozy: there were over fifty actors in it, grades 1-11, and a complex set of sound and light cues… plus about a thousand hand-made costumes. Our last show of the year, the Lower School Musical, is always huge and has the largest staff. We had three adult faculty on the show, along with several helpers and over a dozen tech students. It was a huge company.
I was especially proud of the job the tech crew did, since -as always- they came in late and made do with far too few rehearsals. They made the show look fantastic.
I was also very happy with the scenery, most of which we rented from Grosh Backdrops and Drapery, a great company to work with. They have over 1,500 drops for rent and they’re all browsable on the company’s website. Once you pick one, they ship it to you quick and they look beautiful. Check out the photos of The Jungle Book in the gallery to see for yourself.
Now we just cleanup, maintain, rebuild and plan for next year. 🙂.
We wrapped Hello Muddah this past Monday and finished strike this afternoon. Just in time, too, since we have a Grade Six One-Act next week then start earnest preparations for the Lower School Production of The Jungle Book which is in May.
Congratulations to the cast and crew of HMHF; you were great and the show was fantastic! There are pictures of both casts in the Gallery..
We are deep into rehearsal for our next production, Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh, The Allan Sherman Musical. This will be our Upper School production and features a cast of eight playing dozens of different characters in a musical revue of some of Allan Sherman’s funniest songs.

The Production Schedule for Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah! is complete; here you go. 🙂
We’ve completed design on our first set of the year, a basic apartment interior for Beau Jest, by James Sherman. The show will run in November with a cast of Middle- and Upper-School students.
Updated to add this photo of the actual set, complete with lounging techies.
I’ve added a sign-up form to the site for students who want to get involved in Tech this year. Click here to let met know you want to join the team.
We’ve got three main productions this year, one per division, as well as lots of programs, speakers and assemblies. All of these events require lights, sound and backstage assistance so if you’ve been working tech for years or want to get involved for the very first time, now is the time to join the team. Fill out the form for more information..
I have created a calendar page for the Performing Arts Department’s various performances. Students interested in working on the crew for school events and productions should look there for scheduling information.
There’s a link to the calendar in the main menu in the upper-right corner of every page..
This is my first post. The site is now up and live..
